Teacher Training & Staff Development

Hallsville Primary is a highly successful two-form entry school rated ‘Outstanding’ by OfSTED. Our environment is one of support and respect for all. Through an enriching and balanced curriculum our children make outstanding progress and achieve outstanding grades at the end of the Key Stage 2 assessments.

At Hallsville, PE and sport is a key feature of the school children. All children have fitness breaks during lessons throughout the course of the day – a regular part of their day which contributes to their academic success. At lunchtime the playground is vibrant hub of activity with all children engaging in a variety of sports. As a consequence the behaviour of children at lunchtime is exemplar: children take responsibility for equipment, supervising and supporting each other as they play- leadership is at every level!

Within our curriculum for English, we use the Talk for Writing strategies developed by Pie Corbett; we successfully use RWInc to support reading.

Philosophy for Children (P4C) is also an established part of the curriculum which develops deep and profound thinking in all subject areas but especially P.H.S.E and R.E.

Teaching Alliance

Hallsville Primary School is part of the Elmhurst Teaching School Alliance. As a school, we provide a wide range of programmes to support the development of teachers and leaders.

Our executive head teacher, Ms Edge, is a National Leader of Education (NLE). Through using her extensive leadership skills and experience Ms Edge can offer support to schools in challenging circumstances or newly appointed head teachers.

In their role as Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE), Ms Pointer and Ms Jones are available to work with other schools, both in Newham and beyond. Both teachers can offer support in all aspects of teaching & learning from EYFS through to Year 6.
